In 1968 four small beach towns Cherry Grove, Ocean Drive, Crescent Beach, and Windy Hill Beach decided to form one community, North Myrtle Beach.

Every year millions of visitors come to North Myrtle Beach to enjoy the wide beaches, the warm weather and the family atmosphere.

The City of North Myrtle Beach is located along a nine-mile stretch of the Atlantic Ocean coastline in the northeastern section of South Carolina. NMB is also known as "Home of the Shag".

The latitude of North Myrtle Beach is 33.815N. The longitude is -78.68W. North Myrtle Beach is in the Eastern Standard time zone. Elevation is 7 feet.
